Gene Expression Platforms
The existing equipment housed at the AGRF makes the interrogation of the transcriptome accessible regardless of the starting RNA material or species of interest. The AGRF endeavors to ensure that optimal data is obtained from your starting material. Our Quality Control system is utilised to determine the method of labeling and the platform to be subsequently offered.
Affymetrix
The AGRF utilizes the Affymetrix GeneChip instrument system with scanner 3000 7G and autoloader for expression array processing and analysis. This platform offers access to the sequences from a wide range of organisms. These range from model species, animal and plant species of agricultural interest to prokaryotic organisms. Click here to view available catalogue arrays. There are several different labeling processes from which total RNA can be used to interrogate these arrays. For samples that generate a good weight of isolated total RNA, the Affymetrix platform offers a comprehensive coverage for gene expression research.

Bioanalyser
The Agilent 2100 bioanalyser is a well-established system which is a microfluidics-based platform for the analysis of DNA, RNA and cells.
The Bioanalyser is used at AGRF to QC samples.
Agilent
The Agilent DNA microarray scanner is a 48-slide scanning system that can read any mix of 1 x 3” glass slide microarrays and extract them all using Agilent’s Feature Extraction Software. This scanner utilises optimised precision optics which results in minimal spectral cross talk.
illumina
illumina has developed a set of integrated system solutions to enable SNP genotyping and gene expression profiling for both production-scale and core laboratory environments. The two system offerings support Sentrix Array Matrices and Sentrix BeadChips, which incorporate dense geometries in multiple Array of Arrays configurations that accommodate a host of experimental design requirements.
Axon Scanner
The GenePix® 4000B microarray scanner allows acquisition and analysis of expression data from DNA microarrays, protein microarrays, tissue arrays and cell arrays.
