On Thursday 26 February, AGRF marked the official opening of our new Perth laboratory, located within the Agricultural Central Wing at The University of Western Australia’s Crawley campus. The event brought together members of the research community, partners, and collaborators to acknowledge this important development in AGRF’s national service offering.

The launch provided an opportunity to formally introduce the new facility and recognise the ongoing partnership between AGRF and UWA. We were pleased to welcome more than 130 registered attendees, including senior academic leaders, researchers, industry representatives, and key collaborators, reflecting the strong and growing engagement with AGRF’s work in Western Australia.

Guided tours of the laboratory were a central part of the afternoon, offering guests firsthand insight into the workflows, instrumentation, and capabilities now available locally. These discussions highlighted new opportunities for collaboration and future projects across agriculture, environmental science, health, and industry.

The establishment of the Perth laboratory ensures Western Australian researchers have direct access to AGRF’s nationally recognised genomics services and local support, strengthening the state’s capacity for high‑quality research and innovation.

We are grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the event. The positive response reinforces the importance of this investment and the value it will bring to the wider research community.

AGRF looks forward to working closely with partners across Western Australia and supporting impactful genomics research that drives discovery and real‑world outcomes.
